Are there any, real, aggressive reporters in this market, TV, print or radio besides Jordan (funny, why is his the only name that comes to mind) that are capable of doing a real, investigative, expose' type of journalism. Not re-active reporting to events that have happened like a plant fire or car wreck, but real pry open the facts, Open Records Act, stalk and ambush investigative reporting. Is there anyone in this market, beginners or experienced that is capable of this? What are they teaching you in college? Hair, nails and teeth? There are things going on in Jefferson and Orange counties that would outrage the people, and skyrocket the ratings for whomever has the fortitude to take them on. Y'all go on and on on this blog about tits, and ass and production quality and who got fired, who ought to be fired; who out there wants to serve the public good?

This morning I have received 3,000 emails informing me that personal information was posted on Trogs web site. This morning in reviewing the information placed on Trog it is mostly public record, other than my social security number.
Unfortunately, as you can assume I can do nothing about this situation legally. As, again, most of it is public record, other than my social security number, the post was made by an individual that seemingly is so intrigued by me that they would do research regarding my personal life.
I again, and as I always say, am amazed by the lengths some will go over a low tech web site, with bad spelling, and a political difference in philosophy. It is simply mind boggling.
We do know the IP address that the post came from in working with good folks at GOOGLE security. They were able to trap it.

That is a very interesting point. Given the status of internet services today, tracking down a particular IP to a particular post is near impossible. I did not say impossible, I said near. I recently had a conversation with someone that worked at a major internet service provider. The problem with tracking IPs is that they are constantly changing and there are so many that it could take months of searching to determine what particular post came from a particular IP at a particular time.
Add to this the use of proxy servers. Proxy servers are programs that bounce internet "signals" off captured IP addresses from IP providers. They can come from ANYWHERE in the world. The utilization of an offshore proxy server and capturing that IP along with the "bouncing" that is generally performed by the proxy program makes it virtually impossible to track the IP. If one were so in'Kliened' to track the IP and had substantial monetary resources to do so, the starting point would be the location of the offshore Internet service provider. The requestor would then need some sort of legal order requiring provider to turn over the IP address (which of course is simply the first bounced address and not the originating IP address of the post). Such subpoenaes to foreign countries are extremely expensive (usually costing several thousand dollars) and are only effective if the United States has certain legal diplomatic relations with the host country. In any event, it can take up to eighteen months to serve the subpoena.
Assuming you persist in the above process, you NOW have the FIRST IP address in what is probably a string of five or six IP addresses, again bounced to offshore internet service providers.

I have been doing the web site since 1996. In this time I have had many threats, calls, messages and controversy.
This morning, someone posted my personal information on the web site known as Trog. This evening they have posted my son, Charley's personal information.
We can all agree to disagree regarding politics and issues that surround it. However, this has now gone way over the line.
My family has hired a law firm this afternoon to represent our interests. I do this with regret. However, if my social security number is used, and now my sons, for any illegal activity or credit issues, the one responsible will be held accountable.
Further, I am making public plea for anyone with information on the person responsible. Someone out there knows about this and I am asking for information regarding this. I am asking you to do what is right.
Lastly, my son, Charley, is a fine young man. He has done nothing to anyone. To post his information is sick. We can assume that more is to come - and we ask you to answer this question - would you want your children's names and personal information posted anywhere?
There is no other way to state this. The person posting this information is a wimp, gutless, has no morals, and will be held accountable in the end. It may take me a day, a week, a month, a year or ten years. I will find out who did this.
